A total of 42 people in Gulu have been put under quarantine after they have suspected to have come into contact with Covid-19 Positive Truck drivers.
The 42 people were picked from different areas in Gulu including Petrol stations, restaurants among others and they are all currently under quarantine at Gulu school of clinical Officers, formerly Laroo boarding primary school.
Gulu district resident district commissioner [RDC] Maj. Santos Okot Lapolo speaking on Thursday at a local radio station confirmed this reports describing some of these people as ‘’deaf’’ because they did not listen to instruction of the district Covid-19 task force and guidelines from the Ministry of Health.
Maj. Lapolo stressed that people should avoid getting in touch with these Truck drivers because it will put their lives at risk of contracting Corona Virus.
The RDC emphasized that everyone who is coming out in Public places must put on a face mask as directed by the President to avoid the spread of the pandemic.
Major Lapolo also revealed that he directed security to close Sultan Petrol station in Gulu town because they were not following the guidelines given and were allowing the Truck drivers to do as they wish when they come to the Petrol station.
Gulu regional referral Hospital currently has 6 Covid-19 positive patients that are being treated at the Isolation ward of the hospital.
Dr. Paska Apio, the Covid-19 case management specialist at Gulu referral hospital says all the patients at the Isolation ward are currently on Stable conditions; all these patients are Truck drivers.
