Police in Kisoro district have in detention 4 men who allegedly broke into a home of a local businessman and stole property worth millions of shillings.
Elly Maate the Kigezi regional police spokesman identifies the suspects as Denis Katongore, 27-year-old resident of Luwafu in Makindye, Derrick Sentamu, 19, from Northern Division in Kisoro municipality, Patrick Katagenda, 37, from Busabala in Wakiso District and Ntezeyaremye Moses, 38, from Nyagashenge in Kisoro municipality.
The four on Wednesday at 10pm are said to have infiltrated to the home businessman Sabiiti Jovanin in Busamba Ward, Kisoro municipality disguising as workers who had gone to work on his building.
Maate says the robbers then threatened the children who were playing at home, with the knives and forced them to show them the keys for the father’s bed room.
“The children were very scared and they gave them the keys. When the children tried to make an alarm the assailants gagged two of them with cello tape. They later saw them opening their mother’s bag where the money was kept,” Maate said.
The assailants allegedly took off with an unspecified amount of money, a 42’ flat screen TV and a decoder, using motor vehicle registration number UBG 268U Toyota Wish.
Maate says the locals in collaboration with police pursued and arrested them.
“All four suspects were taken into police custody as inquiries continue. They will be charged with aggravated robbery.”
