4 Killed in Downtown, Nateete Accidents

The Uganda Netball Federation has released the final list of twelve (12) She Cranes players who will be travelling to Australia to represent country in the 2015 Netball World Cup.

Only six players from the squad that booked the world cup ticket in Botswana last year have made it to the final squad.

UK based Peace Proscovia who also turns out for Loughborough Lightening has been given the armband to lead the team at the championships. Prisons’ forward, advice Florence Amono, this web NIC dynamic attacking duo of Racheal Nanyonga and Stella Oyella will add more power in the striking force.

“The players are doing well and in good shape, we hope for the best in the world cup,” coach Mubiru said.

Coach Rashid Mubiru has chosen Halima Nakachwa, Harriet Apako, Jesca Achan and Ruth Meeme. The team departs Entebbe on Saturday 1st August aboard Emirates Air and is expected in Australia on 3rd August. The tourney begins on 7th – 16th August 2015.

Deffenders:Ajio Lillian (Prisons), Nanyonga Florence (Prisons) Namukasa Betty (NIC) and Nanteza Sempala Alice (NIC).

Dropped players: Nakabuye Haddija,Soigi Martha, Atino susan.

A Total of four people have perished in an accident in Nateete along the Kampala-Masaka road this afternoon.

The four who are yet to be identified were knocked by Fuso truck coming from Masaka heading to Kampala which failed to break according to eyewitnesses.

Kampala Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the accident which took place near Total Petrol station in the township.

“When the breaking system failed the driver tried to drive off the road where he hit a motorcyclist plus a passenger and three chapati vendors.” he said.

Four died instantly and one was taken to Mulago hospital in critical condition. The bodies were taken to mortuary.

Meanwhile, malady another driver lost control of a truck in downtown Kampala and rammed into Galilaya Plaza later in the evening.

Two people were reported critically injured in the accident and were rushed to Mulago hospital.
