Col. Besigye Injured At Katwe Rally

In the ensuing fracas, Besigye and the two FDC top shots were battered by police as they resisted arrest.

A4C Coordinator Kalike Nyango says the FDC leaders are now receiving treatment at Case Clinic in Kampala.

Our reporter says Besigye’s leg profusely bled as he was being driven at a terrific speed to the clinic while Nabilah complained of serious back pains.

At first it was feared Besigye and Mwijukye were hit by stray bullets.

Besigye later told media he was injured by a sharp object and expected to recover soon. Ingrid Turinawe was as well injured in the scuffle.

This is not the first time opposition is clashing with police forces. A few weeks ago, Nabila was rushed to the same facility after being injured in a violent demonstration.

The incident confirms the growing rift between opposition leaders and security forces. Police say the opposition intend to use violent means to overthrow government.

On the other hand, Besigye and his supporters say they are demonstrating against bad governance, corruption and nepotism in government.
