Kiwanuka Fires Kazibwe Over MSC Sh10bn Theft

order geneva; font-size: small;”>The entire MSC board has been disbanded and replaced with another headed by Deputy Secretary to Treasury Keith Muhakanizi.

Other members on the new board are Moses Kagwa (commissioner of Micro Finance), David Baguma (Executive Director Association of Micro finance Institutions) and Fred Mwesigye (registrar of Cooperatives), Timothy Lubanga and Justine Lwagaba.

The sacking followed scandalous revelations showing MSC, which was tasked to alleviate the economic plight of the rural people, had caved in over corruption.

The IGG is investigating cases of corruption, embezzlement and abuse of office by Kazibwe and her juniors.

It’s said during Kazibwe’s regime, over Shs10bn was swindled. The former vice president claims she is being ‘politically-witch-hunted.’

Incorporated in 2001, MSC was charged with facilitating access to affordable, sustainable and convenient financial and business development services to active and productive Ugandans.

The firing confirms President Yoweri Museveni’s practical steps in fighting corrupt public officials.

Sources in the IGG’s office tell that Kazibwe will soon be paraded in court on charges of embezzlement and abuse of office.

World Bank statistics show Uganda loses over Shs500bn in corruption.
