The meeting kicks off at 9am today January 13 at Lugogo In-door Stadium, Kampala.

“The meeting will be attended by the party cabinet members who compose the delegates’ assembly. The delegates’ conference is the highest decision-making organ of the party. It has powers to appoint and dismiss the party President,” Nuwagaba says.

The crisis in UPC was sparked by Otunnu when he fired the three officials for allegedly conspiring to overthrow him and mismanaging party funds.

Otunnu has been firing Cabinet members in a bid to bring on board his loyalists.

Renegade Rurangaranga says Otunnu will not survive this move. He says the meeting will install a transition government and the president will be elected in a space of 6 months.

It’s feared Moroto County MP Benison Ogwal is likely to replace Otunnu.
