278 Police Officers Set for Retirement

A total of 278 police officers will this Friday January 31 be officially retired from the force in a colourful ceremony to be held at Naguru police Headquarters.

In a message issued by Police Director of Human Resources, Col Jesse Kamunanwire, the group includes senior and junior police officers who have reached retirement age.

“The following personnel who are expected to retired by end of this financial year 2019/2020 are invited to attend the official send-off ceremony scheduled to take place on 31st January, 2020 at the Police Headquarters,” Col Kamunanwire said.

He said they have informed commanders of various units about the exercise and that the group will undergo sensitization on how to handle their life outside police service.

“There will be a workshop to sensitize and prepare the said officers on life after police service,” Col Kamunanwire added.

Among retiring officers is SCP Dennis Odongpiny, the former chairman of the Police Disciplinary Committee, SCP Benjamin Namanya and Samuel Ezati. Others are Commissioners of Police (CPs) Hillary Odoch, Wilson Ahimbisibwe, Fabian Amadia and Paul Tumuhimbise Kato.

SSPs include Wakwale Ahamad, Kamukugize Steven, Kamugisha Thomas, Yawe Joseph, Aboda John, Otim Chris Erick, Nyakaisiki Leone and Were Michael among others. The list includes 34 Inspectors of Police (IPs), 41 Assistant Inspectors of Police (AIPs), 50 Sergeants (SGTs), 42 Corporals and 37 Police Constables.
