A total 26 babies were born on Christmas day in Kabale district, officials said Thursday.
The mothers gave birth to kids at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital (12), Rugarama Hospital (11) and Rushoroza Hospital (5) in Kabale Municipality.
Babra Mungufene said the mothers and babies were not only in good health but ready to be discharged during the course of this week.
Mungufene advised expectant mothers especially in villages to avoid giving birth with the help of traditional birth attendants as they lack the “vital skills in protecting babies and mothers from infections and other serious situations.”
Last year, report shows that at least 218 babies were born in different health facilities on Christmas Day across the country.
