State Minister for Primary Health Care Hon, Sarah Opendi the state has called upon the general public to be cooperative with the ministry officials by providing all the necessary information required in registration.
“All people who are going to be provided with nets will have to first register with the ministry and registration will take place on the 26th and 27th July 2014 over weekend so that working class people are given ample time to participate in the registration process” she said during a press conference at the Ministry Headquarters in Wandegeya on Friday.
She also appealed to all people with fenced homes to cooperate with their staff by giving them access on both days of registration and distribution
Dr Myer Lugemwa a health specialist working in Malaria controldepartment of ministry of health assured the public that the nets have no health hazards and that the insecticide used to treat them is long lasting.
“I would like to call upon only those in need to register for the nets and thereby advising those who are able to procure their own to save
the government from a burden of caring for them”
He added that the insecticides treatment remains active even when washed twenty times.
“Once people make good use of these nets, the government will reduce on the expenses it incurs annually on treating malaria patients.”
