Kakyeka stadium

High flying Mbarara City emerged winners in the derby game against rivals Nyamityobora FC played on Friday at Kakyeka stadium.

The highly billed derby lived to the hype with several fans from either side thronging Kakyeka stadium.

The Ankole Lions who have had a brilliant campaign this season broke no sweat to dispatch struggling Nyamityobora FC winning the game 3-0.

This was also a moment for revenge after losing to the same opponents 2-1 in the first leg at Wankulukuku.

South Sudanese forward Wol Makweth, Paul Mucurezi and Jude Ssemugabi scored a goal each to guide Mbarara City to their 8th home win this season.

Makweth scored the opener as early as the second minute tapping home from Ivan Eyam’s headed pass.

Midway through the first stanza, Mucurezi doubled the lead before lanky forward Ssemugabi sealed the victory with the third goal in the second half.

Victory moved Mbarara City to 35 points in third place while Nyamityobpra FC still languish in the drop zone in 14th position on 12 points.
