Sources reveal that Baluuku was arrested on Sunday evening and is now detained at Bundibugyo police station.

His arrest came after security found posters reading “Emango Za Rwenzururu” pinned on his car.

According to Lt. Ninsiima Rwemijuma, the UPDF spokesperson for Rwenzori region, majority of the attackers killed during raids on security installations in the region on Saturday were dressed in T-Shirts reading “Emango Za Rwenzururu” meaning the youth of Rwenzururu.

Mr Baluuku is suspected of being one of the masterminds of the attacks in which over 60 people were killed, informed sources told Chimpreports on Wednesday.

Baluuku was on Monday taken to Kanyamirima army barracks where he was screened by security.

Sources said he could be paraded before the court martial to answer charges related to causing insecurity in the region.

This brings to three the number of prominent Rwenzururu officials arrested in connection with the bloody tribal raids that sent cold shivers down the spine of security chiefs.

Rwenzururu deputy Prime Minister, Yerimiya Mutooro and the monarchy’s Minister for ‘Veterans’ Mukwenda Misali were picked just a few hours after the breakout of the violence that have pushed Rwenzori region over the edge.

President Museveni on Tuesday said all attackers and their ringleaders would be punished heavily.
