Ugandan Judge Appointed to Seychelles Supreme Court

Justice Akiiki-Kiiza was appointed by Seychelles President James Michel following a recommendation by the constitutional appointments authority as part of a three year programme of support by the commonwealth secretariat to the Seychelles Judiciary.

Principal Judge Dr. Yorokamu Bamwine confirmed Akiiki-Kiiza’s move to Seychelles and had been granted a one year’s leave to embark on his new challenge given the fact that he was set to retire next year from the Judiciary.

Justice David Batema, who has been his deputy, now replaces Justice Akiiki-Kiiza as the head of Fort portal high court circuit, according to a news brief from the High Court.

Akiiki-Kiiza‘s career spans several posts as magistrate, senior magistrate, chief magistrate and inspector of the Courts of Judicature.
