“It’s not that I am stubborn; that I am declining to meet the lawyers. I am ready to apologise. Putting on that Cassock wasn’t in bad faith. I performed only gospel songs in that attire and I have clear evidence to that effect,” noted Hilderman.
The singer said he was ready to defend himself had he received the lawyers’ letter on time.
Hilderman had earlier told ChimpLyfe: “I know these lawyers have been idle for so long and that’s why they have come up to capitalise on such a minor issue; this is not a big deal, I have enough records to prove that I performed only gospel songs in the Cassock.”
He added: “I know my secret enemies are behind this move to tarnish my name; the rest of the songs I performed that day, I wasn’t putting on the Cassock as they allege.”
The lawyers demand that Hilderman should take the Cassock to the Bishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Cyprian Kizito Lwanga so as to prevent further provocation of the church in Uganda by several artistes.
Mbabaali noted that in case Hilderman fails to meet their demands, he should prepare for prosecution in courts of law.
“In the first place, his action is an offence and breaches the law that prohibits people from putting on uniforms and attire which they are not supposed to such as the army and police uniforms,” said Mbabaali.
