While Nahebwa’s superiors had directed him to ensure peace prevails in the area, squatters attacked and vandalised tycoon Lillian Ssebunya’s structures on the huge chunk of land.

According to Equator region spokesperson, Phillip Mukasa, Nahebwa was assigned to mediate talks between residents and Ssebunya but never fulfilled his obligations.

“We have detained DPC Nahebwa because he intentionally neglected the assignment that was given by his bosses hence tarnishing the name and image of the institution before the citizens in the area,” Mukasa noted.

He further observed that in an effort to improve its relationship with the general public, the Police Force has increased vigilance and routine monitoring of the performance of several officers and that lazy cops will be disciplined.

Over 60,000 Squatters are occupying the vast land, saying they will leave only after being compensated.

Police recently arrested Ggaba OC Joel Kanbanone over neglect of duty after suspects escaped from detention.
