“Mr Museveni is not being truthful. He is a loser who has run short of excuses to tell the country, that’s why he is looking for all possible ways of incriminating the opposition.”
On the same note, Lucima also cautioned the president to stop blaming the Electoral Commission (EC) for their acts and mishandling of election exercises but rather accept that he has benefitted from the irregularities.
“Museveni should stop blaming EC for being corrupt, let him just come on board and join the caravan for free elections which is the only way that will save the country from all forms of malpractices,” noted Lucima while addressing a weekly press briefing in Kampala on Wednesday.
President Museveni said in an article this week that the masterminds of rigging the 1961 and 1962 elections were the Uganda Peoples’ Congress (UPC).
“The UPC, apart from co-sponsoring sectarianism along with DP, had the additional mistake of systematically rigging the elections of 1961, 1962 and 1980. How did they do it? They started with the election law, assisted by a British official (whether he did so consciously or not, I cannot tell), known as Peagram.”
In electing Nabukenya, said Lucima, the people of Luweero were expressing their discomfort with government for not providing social services to the area after the Luweero Triangle liberation war.
