“Let him come clean and publicise in all Uganda media houses that he will not contest. Let him clarify that he is not interested in campaigning against the Party chairman or resign his position,” they chorused.

Mbabazi has consistently said he will not stand against Museveni in the upcoming elections but quickly adds harbouring Presidential ambitions is not a crime.

The Lyantonde leaders made the remarks during a heated NRM meeting held at Salama Shield in Lyantonde Town Council on Sunday.

The meeting was called by the area MP Hon. James Kakooza who doubles as the District NRM Chairman to spread Museveni’s sole candidature gospel in 2016 which all people endorsed.

The proposal asking Mbabazi’s resignation was forwarded by Lyantonde District Chairman of Business and the Town Council NRM Chairman, Hajji Ahmadah Ssekikubo, and seconded by more than 300 delegates.

The delegates accused Mbabazi of “misleading the youth by buying them off to destabilise the party”.

They advised President Museveni to either sit with Mbabazi and iron out their differences or totally isolate him for the sake of the party.
