Mao said, scientifically, one can tell when a disaster is likely to happen because this is not something happening for the first time and according to the meteorology recordings, the disaster was foreknown but government did not pay attention to it.

Mao noted that according to scientific data, the disaster in Kasese is always predicted to happen in the months of April and May which calls for better preparations to avoid the loss of lives and property.

He called upon government to make structural changes in the ministry of Disaster preparedness which has for long failed to warn Ugandans of any disaster and perhaps saving their lives.

On the other note, Mao maintained that unless salaries of teachers and health workers are increased in the 2014/2015 national budget, Parliament should not pass it.

Mao noted that the education system in Uganda is sick rotten due to the poor pay on teachers and that there are no health workers in several health centres in the country due to the same.
