The award was handed over to the Managing Director’s Representative, Dr Rose Kaggwa, Chief Institutional Development and External Services during the African Utility Week conference and Exhibition on May 13, 2014 at the Cape Town International convention in South Africa.
The news comes only weeks after NWSC was awarded the 2014 Water Leaders Award during the Global Water Summit in Paris France.
The Water Leaders’ Award under which NWSC got a distinction, is the most unique of the Global Water Awards.
The Award recognises the people who are making a difference at the frontline of the battle for safe water and good sanitation.
The concluded Cape Town Summit pulled together CEOs and high level professions in Water and energy utilities from Nigeria, Uganda, Namibia, Senegal, Ghana, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia and South Africa.
The Forum focused on short-term, technical wins that utilities can implement, looking at appropriate technologies for Africa, without having to invest in something as expensive and long term as smart grids in order to improve grid efficiencies.
