Addressing Journalists at National Housing Headquarters in Industrial Area, the chief Executive Director of National Housing and Construction Company, Felix Okoboi, said at the moment, they have 89 employees on permanent schedule and 41 on the contract system.

All of these employees both on permanent and contract basis have to do an internal re-application to get the most competitive ones.

“We are restructuring the company to give Ugandans better services. Therefore, those who will be affected should bear with us,” Okoboi said.

He also revealed that for the past years, national housing has been contributing to education of several Ugandans meaning that they have a chance to take up this opportunity.

The Company Secretary, Henry Magino, called upon the workers not to fear because they will first consider them before recruiting more employers.

Restructuring in the same company was last done in 2005; by then close to 50 workers lost their jobs and more than 60 were brought on board.

National Housing and Construction Company was established several years ago with the purpose of providing Ugandans with affordable houses to meet the increasing demand for Ugandans.
