Democratic Party (DP) has kicked off preparations for the 2021 Presidential Elections by launching a public contest to identify a suitable campaign poster for its Flag bearer Norbert MaoParty’s Spokesperson Enoch Opio Okoler Lo Amanu told press today that the purpose of this contest that targets Ugandans under the age of 30 years is to involve citizens in pertinent decisions of the Party and country at large.
“As DP we believe that in Uganda when you look at the number of voters the people that are below 35 years are the majority. And therefore we believe as a political party that they must be involved at every stage of decision making,” Okoler explained.
“As we begin this journey, we want to emphasize and call upon the youth below 30 years. You might not necessarily be talented or a professional but as long as you know, you can paint a design, send applications to us.”
The competition will be running till the end of this month with up to Shs 1million up for grabs.
Meanwhile, Okoler sought to explain the delay to submit Mao’s Presidential signatures to the Electoral Commission saying it was ‘tactical’
“What we have been doing actually is building rapport with voters, identifying agents in every village such that if we roll out our campaign strategy definitely we shall know that we have pillars in every village,” he buttressed.
“Just to make their work easy today or tomorrow we shall submit the signatures to the Electoral Commission and our candidate shall be verified,” Okoler wrapped it.
