Kyadondo East legislator, also the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party Hon Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has written to Prince Kassim Nakibinge, the titular head of Muslims in Uganda seeking for an opportunity to meet him.
This was in the letter dated July 30, 2020, sent via Hajji Latif Ssebagala, Kawempe North legislator with an Eid al Adha message to all Muslims in the country.
In the letter, Kyagulanyi pointed out a number of key challenges faced by Muslims in the country as he informed the Prince about his intention to contest for presidency in the forthcoming 2021 general elections.
“I look forward to having an opportunity at your earliest convenience to meet and discuss with you more constructively how we can bring about the long lasting change in the governance of our country,” reads the letter in part.
He praised and gave an example of Prophet Abraham for the strong faith and obedience he made to the will of God in surrendering to sacrifice his son Isaac.
“This turn inspires us to have a sense of sacrifice to put the needs of others ahead of ours and indeed put the interest of the nation first,” Kagulanyi wrote.
He went further and expressed concern about the Covid-19 pandemic which has led to the suspension of congregational prayers and promised that with Allah’s grace it will come to pass.
