The accused officers were identified as Wilson Tusiime, the Sacco Manager, a resident of Kyezire Village in Mugusu Sub County and Joseph Kugonza, the Loans officer.
Mukwano said that after the members turned rowdy demanding for their money prompting the duo to abandon the officer and flee the area.
PRIFOD, an NGO fighting for the rights of people in the area, mobilised leaders including the area MP, Hon. Stephen Kagwera, and Christopher Wako, the sub county chairman LC3 to explain the whereabouts of the accused.
Mukwano disclosed that they had contracted certified accountants to carry out a special audit report in the Sacco so that a legal action can be taken against them.
Speaking during the accountability meeting organised by PRIFOD held at the Mugusu sub county headquarters on Monday, Wako said as leaders, they have no kind words for such thieves.
“After the audit report, we will hunt for the suspected officials, arrest and ensure they refund the money or be prosecuted in courts of law.”
The Sacco which has 1,060 members had saved over Shs 48m in shares and had also acquired government grants worth Shs 24m.
Joseph Mashuhuko, a member on the district security committee and Production committee confirmed that they visited the Sacco and established that the money went missing.
He said they have embarked on touring all the Saccos with district commercial officers assessing their performance and how they used the secured funds from the district and after the report, they won’t hesitate to arrest them.
