2020 Masaza Cup Draws Held; Kick-off Date, Venue Confirmed

The Masaza Cup organizing committee on Monday successfully conducted the draws for the long awaited 2020 edition.

The draws were held at Bulange, Mengo in an event graced by the Minister of Sports and Leisure in Buganda kingdom, Owek Henry Sekabembe Kiberu, committee chairman Hajji Sulaiman Sejjengo, other committee members and the teams representatives.

The 2020 edition will kick off on the 12th of December and all games will be hosted at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

Unlike the past editions that had 18 teams, this year’s championship will attract only 16 that have been grouped in four groups namely; Butikiro, Bulange, Masengere and Muganzirwaza.

One more team will be selected from the three (Butambala, Busujju and Mawogola) which didn’t turn up for the meeting such as to join the other 15 teams that were represented.

Each team will have 16 players and four officials who will undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing before being isolated at Njeru throughout the whole tournament.

The organizing committee also dissolved to meet the testing and accommodation costs, feeding of the team players and officials, providing jerseys and balls for the tournament, plus maintaining the prize money allocations for the best performers.

The official launch of the tournament will be held on November 17th in Bulange gardens while the licensing starts a day after, running for three days.


Gomba is the record winners with four Championships while Bulemeezi is the reigning champions

Butikiro Group: Bulemeezi, Ssingo, Bululi, (Late comer 1)

Bulange Group: Busiro, Buvuma, Kyaggwe, Buwekula

Masengere Group: Kyadondo, Bugerere, Kooki, Mawokota

Muganzirwaza Group: Buddu, Ssese, Gomba, Kabula
