2019 Copa Coca Cola Officially Opened

The 2019 Copa Coca Cola schools championship was officially opened on Tuesday at the Kakindu stadium in Jinja.

The tournament hosted by Jinja College started on Monday but was launched officially on Tuesday with a procession in Jinja town and later on an opening function at the stadium.

It was opened by the Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports Lamex Omara Opita.

In his speech, the calm-speaking Opita urged the fans and players to exercise fair play and discipline throughout the two weeks.

“This tournament has given a platform to very many national stars. I want the players to be much disciplined and exercise fair play and spirit of sportsmanship throughout. This is a platform for you to expose your talents,” he said before adding that, “We bring this tournament for fans to watch and enjoy the talents that we have. I
want to urge them to be disciplined and support in numbers. I wish every team good luck. May the best one win.”

The tournament has attracted 58 schools from all the regions including Karamoja that is appearing for the first time. Eight different venues will be used.
