Two people on Wednesday perished and four were critically injured in a road accident along the Muhanga-Kisiizi road in Rukungiri district.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional police spokesperson says the accident which occurred at around 5pm involved a Fuso fighter registration number UEW 086S that was carrying cabbages.
The truck is said to have veered off the road after colliding with a Toyota Corona number UAR 043Q.
The deceased have been identified as Gilbert Basheija, 38 and Amon Atuheire, 26, all residents of Kyobugombe in Kaharo sub county Kabale district.
Maate says that the two people who died on spot were sitting on top of the cabbages on the Fuso while their four colleagues were rushed to Kisizi hospital of Rukungiri district in critical condition.
After the accident, the Fuso driver took off and went into hiding.
No one in the Corona was injured.
Maate blamed the accident on the truck driver who he says was speeding.
