“I am a member of the Democratic Party and a strong advocate. I am not independent because it is the support of the party members that brought me into power,” said Bwowe speaking at the welcome home celebrations.
Meanwhile, NRM cadre, Boniface Mbabazi, and a former contestant, has formed a Shadow Cabinet aimed at keeping Bwowe’s cabinet in check.
“For the first time, NRM is forming a Shadow Cabinet that is even illegal; this is one of the clear signs of greedy for power by the ruling party,” Bwowe told Chimpreports in an interview.
Bwowe revealed that the formation of the Shadow Cabinet headed by Mbabazi is illegal since he was kicked out of the race due to lack of viable academic standards and forging of papers.
“I see NRM is now on the move to sabotage our work but together with my cabinet and the support from students, we shall ensure quality delivery of services to all students.”
He added: “The sense of humour and maturity demands that one concedes defeat and works hand in hand to ensure development of an institution which his opponents lacked.”
Mbabazi’s Shadow Cabinet, the first of its kind at Makerere University, has Daisy Oketcho as the Vice President, Faisal Muyiga as the Premier and Philip Musiime as the Speaker.
