Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, identified the suspects as Julius Ntulinda 28 years, a headman, Shaban Mwima 26, a security guard of Gideon’s Security company and Abas Mugisa, a machine operator.
Maate said the suspects were arrested on Monday evening at Kihumuro RCC quarry just within Kihumuro primary school premises in Kitumba Sub County in Kabale district with two jerry cans full of diesel and several empty ones which had not been filled, a siphoning tube and a salon car Premio registration number UAU105K.
“The suspects will be arraigned in courts of law after the completion of inquiries,” Maate said.
In related news, Police’s flying squad unit on Friday arrested three people in Kampala city, suspected to have been robbing passengers travelling in taxis.
The trio was identified as Isma Mutasanga of Natete in Lubaga division, Moses Semanda of Nansana in Kawempe division and one Bashir who hails from Namasuba.
According to Patrick Onyango, the Police Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan, police caught the three robbing a passenger before swinging into action.
“We found them with Shs 70,000 they had grabbed from the passenger. We impounded the taxi they were using registration number UAM
036F,” Onyango said.
Onyango said the trio would be charged with theft and kidnap.
