“You could have heard that I have been all along fighting in many areas including Congo and Somalia and hard no time to be here in Kampala. In fact, I came right from Bor when I received the communication about this function,” Muhanga said.
The Chief of Land Forces, Maj Gen Muhoozi, applauded the promoted officers for working tirelessly to promote the army adding, that their new ranks are an award for the good service.

“It’s a public acknowledgment of the meticulous work you have done for the army and country at large and this is a signal that you are ushered in a big picture world,” he noted.
He, however, warned the promoted officers against laziness adding, that the new ranks are a sign of hard work.

“I implore you to use the new ranks for the betterment of UPDF and Uganda at large because you will now attract attention not only in the army but also the public and therefore, don’t let down the army commander, UPDF and Uganda at large,” urged Muhoozi.
The function was attended by among other officers, the Joint Chief of Staff Maj. Gen Wilson Mbaddi, Chief of Staff Land Forces Brig Leopold Kyanda, Col Felix Kulaigye and army representative in Parliament, Col. Charles Oula.

The former deputy contingent commander and battle group commander in Somalia was born in 1964 and later joined the army in 1985.
The commander of Military police has attended Anti-Terrorism courses in USA and Tactical Operations course in Ghana among other courses.
