He revealed that SPLA forces have now moved beyond Ulang town heading towards Nasir.
“They camped at Yomding Payam today after being invited by the chiefs of the area who received them with bulls and jubilation. Yomding is only 20 km away from Nasir town.”
He adds: “It is my pleasure to inform the public that the leader of the White Army in Nasir County declared his allegiance to the Government of South Sudan and Gov. Simon Kun Puoc.”
The Paramount Chief of Nasir County, according to the General, called for the Government of South Sudan to return to Nasir town.
“The Nasir County White Army made it clear that they will not fight the SPLA army when they enter into the town on Saturday.”
Gen Buay also revealed that Riek Machar and his rebel commanders left Nasir town for Akobo town after learning that the White Army of Nasir County pledged their allegiance to Gov. Simon Kun Puoc.
“I want the IGAD and the international community to know that the SPLA army was invited by the Paramount Chiefs of Ulang and Nasir Counties. We respect the Cessation of Hostilities signed in Addis Ababa on January, 23rd.”
He says its only because the chiefs of Jikany petitioned the SPLA army to return to Ulang and Nasir towns because “since the time Riek Machar’s rebels controlled these towns, law and order have never existed”.
“The chiefs have realized that Riek Machar is introducing lawlessness and criminal activities in the country that jeopardise peace in the four counties of Jikany.”
To the contrary, Changkuoth Gatkuoth, who is aligned to the opposition immediately, denied the allegations.
“There will never be such a thing as invitation between us and forces of Kiir. We are now encircling and closing in behind them,” Gatkuoth clarified.
“The deeper they penetrate into Jikany land, the more they become susceptible to extinction. Just wait,” he threatened.
Chimpreports could not independently confirm or verify the report since neither the rebel spokesperson, Gen Lul Koang nor SPLA spokesperson, Col Philip Aguer, has commented on the incident.
