sick sans-serif; color: #222222;”>The building belonged to the late Ben Kasirabo, a resident of Bigombe cell lower, Bugongi northern division Kabale municipality.

Eyewitnesses said they saw smoke and fire coming out of the building at around 8pm.

“We tried to contain the fire but in vain. We then alerted the police fire brigade which responded in time and put out the fire,” said an eyewitness.

It is reported that the building had spent some time without electricity which they suspect could have caused the inferno.

The District Police Commander, Bosco Arupo, said that the police are investigating the matter.

Arupo appealed to the residents to always alert the police in case of such scenarios.

The incident comes barely two days after another fire destroyed two buildings along Kabale-Kisoro road in Kabale town.

According to the Police Fire Brigade Commander, Sunday Buchana, the fire was sparked off by an electric circuit before spreading to other buildings.

Buchana warned tenants and building owners against using wooden plywood for ceiling and paraffin while painting buildings because the two are highly flammable.
