“The court order stopped the National Electoral Commission from organising elections to replace Lord Mayor not the NRM party,” he said.

“As a party, we are free to elect our flag bearers wherever we are ready, even if the elections don’t take place this year, our flag bearer will act as the shadow Lord Mayor from now up to 2016.”

Lukyamuzi added that their flag bearer is not only eligible to represent the party in the elections but there are other party administrative duties he has to run.

Meanwhile, Hajji Najja Twaha, one of the contestants, has vowed to challenge the election results in court.
