Kanungu: Police Officer Fired Over Rape

order check geneva; font-size: small; line-height: 200%;”>The Court which was chaired by the Assistant Inspector of Police, Jeremiah Kabagambe, heard that the accused Jack Bagarukayo, 37 years, while guarding at Electoral Commission offices in Kanungu town council at about 3:30am, attacked the female guard working for Saracen Uganda Ltd who was guarding Post Bank in the same town and put her on gun point while ordering her to lie down and remove her clothes.

The Court also heard that the victim, identified as Evas Ampiire, later grabbed him and he fired one live bullet in the air but she disarmed him and threw away the gun.

The accused pleaded guilty and the Court Chairman said that his files will be sent to the Police Legal Council where immediate action will be taken.

Bagarukayo is also reported to have been a perpetual criminal wherever he has ever been posted.

Bagarukayo is waiting for his official dismissal letter from duty from the Police Legal Council.


Meanwhile, Inspector Kabagambe warned the police officers against such shameful acts saying, that it contravenes the police professional standards and code of conducts.
