The funds are aimed at implementing a 6 months water project in Nakapiripirit District.
The water project will include installation of 800 bio filters in schools, construction of 8 boreholes, 6 Ferro cement tanks ,training women to ensure sustainability of the project and hygiene education and promotion activities.
Janet Museveni said that helping Karamoja is a deserving venture since the region suffers from an acute and chronic shortage of water for human consumption agriculture and animals.
She said that the Shs 400m will go a long way to complement Government’s efforts of providing more safe water points making water closer and more accessible to the people of Nakapiripirit.
Janet Museveni praised corporate bodies for their donations in IDP Camps and disaster areas and successfully mobilising the active participation and interest of the young population to support the less privileged communities.
The Minister of State for ICT Nyombi Thembo pledged to address the challenges faced by telecommunication companies including the high cost of the internet band width and vandalism of telecom equipment.
