The committees which sat today include the Legal Affairs Committee, Internal Audit Committee, Education and Gender Committee, among others.

Benard Luyiga, the Chairperson Legal Affairs Committee, says that KCCA has many cases in court like the KCCA vs Owino Market, which need critical scrutiny.

He notes that the issue of amending the KCCA Act was among the 22 resolutions of the NRM retreat at Kyankwanzi last month.

“The Presidential Affairs Committee has already written to the Minister Tumwebaze to appear before the committee and share ideas with the committee members about proposed amendment,” Luyiga pointed out.

KCCA committees last sat in June 2012 because members of the committees terms had expired but the Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, refused to appoint new chairpersons which made councillors to petition the Minister for Kampala over the matter hence setting up the tribunal that convicted and later led to the impeachment of the former.
