Nansana Police Station OC, AIP, Muhammadi Kirumira, notes that police has been able to track down several group leaders, arrest and imprison them which has reduced on their threats in the country.
“I want to warn the public that they should take knee since these groups are now recruiting to fire up their operations,” warned Kirumira in an exclusive interview with Chimpreports.
“All robbers operate in groups with commands and instructions from their group commanders and operate like any other security unit; these are not terrorists but their mission is to go hit the target, get money and survive. They are ready to do away with anybody who engages them and not smarter than them,” he further warned.
Kirumira has on top of that named the robber groups and their places of operation plus some of their leaders that have ever been arrested.
One of the groups is ‘Kifeesi’ and this is based in Makindye giving hard time to residents in and around neighbouring places such as Nakivubu, Muyenga, Ggaba, Kabalagala and Nsambya.
‘B13’ is led by a one commonly known as Sseru; this group is situated in Kamwokya operating in areas of Mulago, Kyebando, Busega, Kommamboga and on the Northern By-pass.
‘Kasoro group’ in Kawempe operates in Maganjo, Kagoma, Lugoba, Matuga and Kawanda; this group has recruited many young boys and girls who among which are students, these also go on raping and defiling girls and women.
Another group is ‘Prison Break’ basing in Nakulabye terrorising residents of Namirembe, Makerere, Kasubi, Sir Apollo road and Baintuma.
The other organized group is ‘Lipanda’ based in Katwe along clock town proving to be a threat to the people of Kalitunsi market, Queen’s way, Mengo and Lubiri.
The group terrorising the areas of Ntinda, Kiwatule, Najjera, Nalya and Namugongo has been identified and we are soon hunting it down.
Kirumira noted, however, that these groups have of recent been weakened due to the increased police operations against them but they have come to know that they are now regrouping and recruiting new members.
