The London Olympics marathon golden boy, Stephen Kiprotich, was the guest runner; he raised Shs 10m from his sponsors.
Gen. Kayihura, in his address, urged all Ugandans to unite if Uganda is to develop.

“We need to work together, for this country to prosper, we should not allow to be divided, and we shall not allow anybody to divide us,” Gen. Kayihura said.
He further noted that this country needs young people for it to move forward.
The function was attended by the area Members of Parliament, RDC and the chairman LCV. Directors of Police also participated in the marathon.
The maternity ward in Kisoro hospital serves three nations i.e, Uganda, Rwanda and DR. Congo.
On average, about 300 deliveries are handled by the hospital.
