UPDF Steps Up Hunt For Fugitive Soldier

Odongo went back to Mbuya barracks where he picked his gun and came back to shoot randomly, killing three instantly and injuring another three.

According to Ankunda, the dead were identified as; Scovia Akello, Ceasar Pere and a one junior, whereas the injured are Simon Peter Odongokara, Agnes Adongo and Kitara, all residents of Kinawataka.

Ankunda, early in the day described the incident as an “individual act” which would be “severely punished.”

“We are searching for the suspect so he can face the full wrath of the law.”


Ankunda said UPDF would not tolerate “any impunity,” adding, “We have to effect the law.”

The Kampala metropolitan police publicist, Ibin Ssekumbi, also commented on the same matter affirming that, “We are still looking for private Odongo who is on the run. On the crime scene, it showed that all the 12 bullets which were in the gun were used.

“If apprehended, he will face murder charges, but we have set up a meeting to establish how a person who was not on duty accessed a gun,” Ssenkumbi stated.

Meanwhile, the injured are under medical attention at Mulago national referral hospital.
