URA Arrests Fake Advertiser

remedy geneva;”>According to URA Public Relations Officer who doubles as the Assistant Commissioner for Corporate Affairs, Sarah Banange, Maliba created two accounts in Stanbic Bank Mulago and Wandegeya branches where people were supposed to pay before applying to URA.

“The wrong accounts were opened in 2013 as he asked everybody to pay for the interviews,” Banange said.


Maliba, a graduate of Busoga University, is reported to have postponed the interviews but URA blocked the accounts which had Shs 90,000 on them.

Maliba is also said to have done the same thing using the names of air transport companies Qatar airways and Emirates.

“He even created a New Vision Facebook page and hoodwinked the public,” Banange added.

Maliba agreed to have committed the crime with the motive of getting money and has been doing it since July this year.

He also claims to do consultancy work.

According to the Allen Kagina, URA Commissioner General, interviews with the authority are not supposed to be paid for and any one who impersonates the authority staff shall be apprehended.
