Mawejje has also been in talks with IBV over a new deal but there has been little progress.

Some time back, last year, Mawejje had denied IBV’s chance of renewing his contract but later on, on short term, he accepted.

This time, he wanted the Iceland club to renew his contract on a long term basis though the process has been too slow.

“Thanks to IBV as a club for you have deeply contributed to what I am today; FK Haugesund is my new club now,” Mawejje said after the deal was done.

He also noted that “Haugesund play regularly in Europe and, for all players, that is a bonus. I’ve never played much of Europa League football and that is obviously something I dream of doing”.

However, it is not yet clear how long he will stay with the Norwegian club and how much the transfer cost.
