Cervical Cancer On The Rise In Kasese

In an exclusive interview with Chimpreports, Teddy Sanda an official from reproductive health Uganda at the hospital noted that the disease has increased among the women between the of 24 and 34 years.


“We receive 5-6 cases of the disease are registered every week at the hospital,” explained Sanda.

The official added that the rapid increase is mainly attributed to multiple sexual intercourse among young ladies and men.

Teddy therefore noted that lack of a cancer screening machine in the district has paused a challenge as many causalities have been put on pain killers yet the cancer is growing.

Medics have since noted that Human papilloma virus (HPVC) infection is a sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer in women.

According to medics, bleeding between periods, bleeding after sexual intercourse, discomfort during sex, smelly vaginal discharge and pelvic pain among others in women are some of the symptoms for cervical cancer.
