This year, the organisers are expecting over 600 runners, and the races will be organised with Activate Uganda Ltd, the country’s leading professional sports event and timing management company.

As previously, the starting point will be at Kids of Africa at Bwerenga (Wakiso District). This is 4km from Kawuku, which is 24km along the Entebbe Rd.

There will be 5km, 10km and 21km races, with age categories: Under 10 (5km only), 10-14, 15-18, 19-49, 50+.

Participants should meet at 6:30am to collect their event T-shirts and race numbers. The 21km will start at 7:30am sharp; the 10km race at 7:55am and the 5km at 8:15am.

The courses are set in Wakiso District between Kampala and Entebbe on the shores of Lake Victoria. As well as being challenging, the routes take runners through local countryside, villages and have great views over Lake Victoria.

The events’ main sponsor is Roko Construction. Others are United Nations, Civicon, Hared Petroleum, IMC Group, Rwenzori, Mogas and Sheraton Hotel.

The first three male and female finishers in each age category will receive medals. There will also be cash prizes in all age categories, male and female, in all 3 races.

Kids of Africa, a Swiss initiative, is a children’s home operating in Uganda. It takes care of 93 abandoned children in ten family homes, each headed by a loving foster mother.
