Sematiko therefore noted that fake drugs pose a security threat in the country hence the need to join with the army to fight the vice.

The Executive Director further noted that NDA had closed over 1000 drug shops all over the country due to lack of the required health standards

“Most of the clinics we have closed were owned by qualified health workers who after receiving our certificates they then left the clinics to unqualified physicians,” explained the NDA Executive Director.

Sematiko therefore called upon people to be vigilant while purchasing drugs.

“People should buy drugs from centers with certificates approved by the National Drug Authority,” urged Sematiko.

Lt. Col Bahoku Barigye the deputy chief political commissar in UPDF noted that fake drugs have contributed to most of the diseases in the country noting that most of the viruses are now used to the drugs.

“UPDF is the major pillar of security in the country, so we can’t look on when things are going astray,” explained Bahoku.
