“The coming together of MUST and UTAMU to pool the human resources especially at PhD level will undeniably create a joint centre of excellence in East Africa,” Baryamureeba emphasized.
Barya therefore noted that this program is a capacity building program intended to address the educational gaps at doctoral level in the East African region.
Meanwhile, UTAMU and Mbarara University for Science and Technology have partnered with the Human Sciences Research Council and the University of Limpopo in South Africa to share learning programs.
According to the UTAMU Dean of Business and Management, Prof. Benon Basheka, the four institutions share common goals of developing human and social sciences.
“We want to do this through effective use of research and graduate training,” explained Basheka.
This program will involve PhD and staff exchanging programs as part of capacity building among the four institutions.
