Uganda Off For Islamic Games

Vincent Okoti, Ambrose Okello, Dickens Otim and Mildred Gamba were flagged off for the twenty two hour journey to Indonesia.

Games are scheduled to kick start on September 22 to October 1 2013.


Uganda was initially to be represented in thirteen disciplines but the number was however reduced to two due to insufficient funding and therefore Uganda will compete in beach volleyball and athletics.

Sending off the team at Lugogo the National Council of Sports Chairperson John Bosco Onyike urged sports federations to submit in their budgets in time to enable the council to facilitate them

“They only managed to submit their budget to NCS two weeks back and that is why we could only give them $4000,” explained Onyike.

The games were to take place four years back but they have always been being postponed until this year when they have been re-fixed.

The World Islamic Games were supposed to be held four years back but the organisers kept on postponing them until this year.
