The meeting was chaired by the district Speaker Dan Abitamba. The Finance Secretary Cerinah Abakunda presented the 2013/2014 budget with estimates worth Shs500m but the councilors refused to endorse it.
“The executive committee refused to include some of the areas in this budget and no project has been allocated to benefit the people,” argued the Councilors.
Presenting his report at the meeting, Joseph Kaheru the town mayor also complained of deteriorating relationship between the people and the police. “Even the rightful authorities have kept a deaf ear over the matter,” he said.
He gave an example of the recent incident where residents were protesting over insecurity in the area following the disappearance of a fellow resident, Emmanuel Mugisha from the police custody and was later discovered unconscious in a banana plantation.
