Briefing the press in Gulu on Wednesday, the chairperson organizing committee of the show, Piero Paul Ocaya, said they hope to get over Shs 600m for the treatment of children suffering from Cancer.
Ocaya added St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor’s cancer screening machine broke down about 20 years ago leaving over 150 children stranded every year.
“The machine broke down about 20 years ago and we have been referring the children to Mulago Referral Hospital where they have been getting their treatment,” said Ocaya.
Luck Bosmic Otim, an artist from Gulu district will be spearheading the campaign
Ocaya said so far they have received Shs 20m cash which he said can only treat 6 children.
Rasta Bosmic Otim, one of the local musicians in Gulu expressed his interest saying that he has already composed a local song for the fundraising.
St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor was started in 1959 as an Non-Governmental Organization by the late Dr. Lucille Teasdale and Dr. Piero Corti who died in 2005.
