Clubs Prepare For Handball Day Tourney

Unfortunately, women defending champions Nkumba University will not be able to defend their trophy with the timing of the event coming a fortnight after the university broke off for holidays while Ndejje, Makerere and Kampala University will also not participating leaving Prison Lady Spears, Police Lady Metro, and EverGreen Ladies as the only formidable senior female sides.

East African Schools champions Lubiri SS and national champions Gombe lead the pack in the Secondary Schools’ category that also has Namagabi S.S, Kakungulu Memorial School, Old Kampala S.S, St Balikuddembe S.S Mitala Maria, Kibibi, Mbogo High, Midland High School, Mariam High School Buddo S.S and St Henry’s College Kitovu (SHACK) who are making an appearance after close to 6 years of absence.

The Lubiri Meet will also help Uganda Handball Federation officials identify and evaluate players for U20 and U17 Women Olympic qualifiers due in August in Congo Brazzaville and the September Zone 5 Nations Championships in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
