But Singer Knowless Butera’s music shows are more felt in Rwanda, her country of birth.

This was evidenced during her performance during a ceremony in Musanze, Northern Rwanda ahead of the gorilla-naming ceremony, commonly known as Kwita Izina.

Blessed with perfect dance strokes, Knowless used the platform to entertain locals, Rwanda Development Board (RDB) officials and foreign dignitaries and encourage conservation of wild life.

13 baby gorillas from 10 groups were last Saturday named during the exciting Kwita Izina.

The gorillas come from Isabukuru, Susa, Amahoro, Ntambara, Poppy, Agashya, Sabinyo, Karisimbi and Pablo.

The function which was the climax of the Kwita Izina caravan tour was done by selected guests who included Nigerian film star Ramsey Noah among others who were given a chance to choose from given names for the respective baby gorillas.

The gorilla-naming ceremony was inspired by the ancient Rwandan tradition of giving names to baby gorillas soon after its birth.

The Kwita Izina which was started 9 years ago has seen 161 gorillas named in a rare case of preserving nature and honouring communities that protect them.

The 4-day event included visiting of tourist attractions like Nyabarongo river, Musanze caves, the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera before culminating into the Kwita Izina ceremony.
