“The issue has run out of hand. As of now I don’t know the reasons the students are giving for their actions,” he added.

Henry Mugoya Mwondha, the deputy head teacher in charge of administration, said the students “today morning went to the district headquarters in Jinja to meet officials so we don’t know what they are discussing there.”

Mugoya said the administration is yet to record any case of violence in the school or outside its premises since the strike broke out.

Scores of students have today been seen roaming in Jinja town.

Busoga College Mwiri has since been credited for providing quality education to students since its inception in 1911.

Its old boys say the school is no doubt one of the best and most popular boys’ boarding schools in Uganda.

The school is located in a tranquil setting, with a commanding view of Lake Victoria, Jinja Town and the Madhvani Sugar Estate.
