Unstable Fares Ratchet Up Tensions In Kampala

viagra order geneva;”>The public has since been concerned with the manner in which fares are levied in the city, with some drivers raising the charges during traffic peak hours.

DACA chairman Mustapha Mayambala said due to a surge in customer complaints, the organization would soon hold a meeting with all taxi drivers and implement a law that provides for uniform charges throughout the day.

“This is because taxi drivers have been exploiting the passengers in one way or the other, but this has to stop,” said Mayambala.

Hannington Mubiru, a taxi driver attached to the Qualicel bus park in Kampala city told Chimpreports that some of the reasons as to why they change different fares is because of the unstable fuel prices and the increasing number of taxi passengers.

“For example, if there are many passengers in the morning, less during midday and many in the evening, we are forced to increase these fares according to time,” he said.

Zulaikah Nantume, a regular taxi user expressed joy that setting a specific fare for all commuter vehicles would “save us from being exploited.”
